Beach House St. Tropez

First built in 1954 by an architecture professor, this St. Tropez beach house was totally renovated by French architect Vincent Coste in 2005.

Coste is renowned for his Palm Springs influences, bringing his own interpretation to the St Tropez architecture. I collaborated closely with the architect and owners in redesigning the interior space, applying sacred lines of geometry, but aiming chiefly to meet the aspirations and lifestyle needs of the family who used it as a summer home. The gardens were also redesigned to reflect and capture the nature surrounding its location and to be in keeping with the architecture of the house.

When it came to furnishing the space, I recommended a minimalist approach with carefully selected pieces and restrained surface decoration. The focus was to complement the architecture with bold furniture and art, to give a lasting vitality and a reassuring sense of permanence.
